The day is at leisure to admire the beauty of this quiet place. One can enjoy a pony ride (on direct payment basis) at Chandanwari or simply walk along the Lidder River. Overnight in Pahalgam.
Pahalgam - Srinagar
Today, drive to Srinagar. En route, visit the Awantipura Ruins, an 1100 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
On arrival, check-in to the houseboat.
In the afternoon, visit the Mughal Gardens – Shalimar Garden, Chasmashahi and Nishant Gardens.
Located 15 km from Srinagar, the Shalimar Gardens (also known as garden of love) were constructed in 1619 by the great Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his beloved wife Nur Jahan.
Chashma Shahi is the smallest of the Mughal gardens of Srinagar, so named because of a mountain spring that waters it. Also, popular by the name of Royal Spring, it was laid out by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1632.
Nishat Garden is situated on the banks of the picturesque Dal Lake, with the Zabarwan Mountains forming its backdrop. Also known as ‘The garden of bliss', it was laid out in 1633. Designed in Persian style, this is a 12-terrace garden interspersed with fountains, colourful flowerbeds and lush green lawns.
Later, visit the Shankaracharya Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at a height of about 1,100 ft. on a hilltop on the southeast of the city, offers splendid views of the valley and the snow-capped mountains of the Pir Panjal range.
The evening is at leisure. One can enjoy shopping at the local market for papier-mache items, jewellery boxes, mirror frames, a range of intricately carved walnut wood furniture and accessories, stone jewellery boxes, beautiful woolen shawls etc. Overnight in Srinagar.
Today, transfer from your houseboat to hotel in Srinagar, en route embark on a full day excursion to – Sonmarg; admirably known as the ‘meadow of gold’.
Sonmarg, an alpine valley is situated on the bank of Nallah Sindh River at an elevation of 2,800 metres above sea level. Sindh River indulges the activity of fishing especially during summers. This river bed is a popular breeding ground for trout and mahseer fishes. An optional ride on a pony (on direct payment basis) is sure to delight you as you are carried around the snow.
Later, transfer to the hotel and check-in.
The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city. Overnight in Srinagar.
This morning, proceed to Gulmarg.
The beautiful town is bordered by picturesque villages, willow trees, fast flowing streams and lush green meadows. Gulmarg – the ‘Meadow of Flowers’ is an apt term for this idyllic flower - laden spot, offering a spectacular view of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense forests of tall conifers, gigantic firs and pine trees.
The rest of the day is at leisure for individual activities. Overnight in Srinagar.
Today, embark on a 14 km trek to the Vaishno Devi Mata Shrine where ponies can be hired on direct payment basis.
Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in India, is located at a height of 5,200 feet on the hills of the Trikuta range. The temple consists of a cave shrine dedicated to the Hindu goddess, Vaishno Devi.
Post darshan, return to your hotel. Overnight in Katra.
Today, bid farewell to your ‘Kashmir - Paradise on Earth’ tour, as you are transferred to the airport / railway station in Jammu for your onward journey.
